Hyundai will have longest hybrid warranty coverage
Hyundai has decided to match its 10-year/100,000-mile warranty on hybrid components, notably the battery powering the new Sonata hybrid. This is a big gamble for Hyundai as the long-term costs associated with battery failures and replacements on Hybrids are still unknown.
The federal government and several state governments already require manufacturers to provide longer warranties, in many cases eight years, for key components in advanced technology, low-emission vehicles. However, Hyundai's warranty will be the longest for hybrids on the market.
