Reading books about success, self-improvement, and self-motivation is a proven method for advancing your career and helping you deal with the stress of the average auto shop. But who feels like reading after pulling a long shift in the service drive? Here's a suggestion treat reading the same as you would any complex task and break it down into manageable pieces.
Reading just two pages in the morning and two pages in the evening will give you 400 pages in 100 days. It may mean waking up 15 minutes earlier or going to bed 15 minutes later, but it also means additional knowledge and additional income. A recent literacy study found that 82% of non-readers acknowledged the importance of reading to children, and most saw themselves reading again in the future when they were less busy. Just as it is important in child development, reading is key to career development. If it is important you have to make time for it even if it is in small pieces.
